SugarHouse had a very successful launch in New Jersey last month. Using technology from Kambi and license by the Golden Nugget AC, SugarHouse made a firm step at the floor and online.

Its online sportsbook was the first to be integrated with an existing online casino, which comes with its set of benefits.

SugarHouse sportsbook launched on the 23rd of August but still reported over $100,000 in revenue.

SugarHouse Going Hard for Pennsylvania

After doing so well in neighbouring New Jersey, SugarHouse put their aim up for Pennsylvania.

In fact, Rush Street Interactive turned in two applications before the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB). One was for its SugarHouse Casino, located alongside Delaware River, and a $10 million license for the property at Rivers Casino – the only casino in the Pittsburg area.

The board confirmed it had received both applications, but it also noted that they will not be reviewed during the October 3rd meeting. The next meeting will be held on October 31st, but there is no information yet about the agenda.

SugarHouse Will Round The First Five Sportsbooks In PA

SugarHouse is the fourth sportsbook to apply for a license in Pennsylvania and the third to apply in the Philadelphia area. It’s also the first property that’s not a casino-racetrack (a racino).

If both applications get approved, SugarHouse will enter Pennsylvania with its guns blazing operating 2 out of 5 locations.

In order of application, the casinos that will potentially offer sports betting in PA are:

  • Hollywood Casino submitted an application on August 17th
  • Parx Casino submitted an application on August 24th. Also submitted a request for the Philadelphia Turf Club to take in bets.
  • Harrah’s Philadelphia submitted an application on August 25th
  • SugarHouse Casino
  • Rivers Casino

Heavy Competition For Sports Betting in PA Already

Hollywood Casino, Parx and the South Philadelphia Turf Club already gained their sports betting licenses. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board approved their applications on its last meeting.

However, they only expect to go live around the beginning of November.

The other three have a chance to get approval on the next PGCB meeting on October 31st. If they make their preparations during the month, they can launch their sportsbooks soon after.

SugarHouse is facing serious competition in the PA market. However, it comes prepared. One of its possible locations – the Rivers Casino is the only casino in Pittsburgh and just a block away from the Heinz Field – the home stadium of Pittsburgh Steelers.

The SugarHouse casino is located in central Philadelphia area along the Delaware River.

With its successful launch in New Jersey, SugarHouse is expected to put these lucrative locations to good use and become one of the top sportsbooks in the state.
